Founders
FRP composite expertise and passion that runs deep
President – Gregg Blaszak, P.E.
Gregg Blaszak is a civil/structural engineer experienced in the design, specification, and construction of fiber reinforced polymers (FRPs) on heavy/civil infrastructure projects. He is a leading expert on the strengthening and retrofit of concrete structures with carbon fiber materials, and he has chaired a number of industry committees responsible for developing design/construction guidelines. He has authored several technical papers on FRPs and continues to remain active.
After earning a BS in Aeronautical Engineering and working with designers of the composite airframes of military aircraft, Gregg returned to the University of Illinois to pursue an MS in Civil Engineering. He has been involved in the design of several award-winning bridge projects, including the Confederation Bridge in Canada and the Damen Avenue Arch bridge in Chicago, before focusing exclusively on applications of FRPs where he worked with some of the top manufacturers of FRP products and technologies.
Over the course of his career, Gregg has held several different roles, including engineering consultant, contractor, and manufacturer/distributor. He is fluent in the language of each and understands the needs and objectives of each.
Vice President – Steve Shannon
Steve Shannon has over 25 years of experience with FRP construction products and systems. Over the course of his career, he has represented several FRP composite manufacturers. He has been instrumental in introducing these products to the market and developing specifications, which has resulted in their widespread acceptance.
Steve’s primary focus is supporting engineers and contractors as well as educating them on both the performance and cost-saving benefits of FRP products and systems.
